So, how can you determine the age of your tires? Look at their sidewalls. You’ll notice a 4-digit numeric code. The first two numbers reflect the week of the year, and the last two numbers reflect the year itself. For example, the code “3607″ means the tire was built during the thirty-sixth week of 2007.

4 – Structural Damage

If something punctures your treads and causes a leak, the object needs to be removed and the damage repaired. Even if the leak is barely noticeable, the damage can lead to a future blowout. The ideal solution is to replace the tire. Lacking this option, an internal patch can be applied to control the leak enough to make driving safe while keeping moisture out.
