Peugeot is busily preparing to conquer China, one of the largest auto markets in the world. Animated by the desire to take as much of the Asian hunk, the French prepared for the Shanghai Auto Show with a 508 created specifically for the Chinese market, as well as a totally new crossover concept. That is a fresh new type of car from Peugeot, a company car that used us with small models for the town. This one wouldn’t be that different, but it will still be an improvement in comparison with other Peugeot cars in the last years.

Business plans for this generous car market include the launch of at least one model every year . Regarding the target set for the current year, the auto manufacturer plans to sell in the Chinese market about 200,000 units.

A first step in the French offensive will be made ​​at the event in Shanghai, which will host the debut of a Chinese version of the latest proposals of the French Peugeot 508. Besides this, a crossover will be presented in the form of prototype, which will be powered by a hybrid powertrain (gasoline and electricity) and will feature all-wheel drive.

Peugeot is trying to get on the chinese market with a model who want to be durable, cheap and with low fuel consumption. Unfortunately, the cars they make aren’t big, they are creating just small cars, cars that can be used in the cities, not between them. The question is when will they create a car that is good enough for families but suited more for long journeys that just driving along in the city. We will have to wait a while for a big car from Peugeot.

The carmaker currently didn’t provided other technical details, but the time of disclosure (April 19 2011) is fast approaching.
