Mercury OEM Parts For The Engine

Mercury OEM parts stands for original manufacturer equipment. This entails that the pieces area created by the manufacturer and sold through a dealership or online store that is directly affiliated with the car company. Purchasing these types of pieces can ensure the right fit the first time. Aftermarket pieces occasionally require some kind of modification to get them to fit.

During the life of a vehicle some things are bound to go bad. There are a few items that can be maintained in order to prevent costly repairs down the road. The items include spark plugs and wires, water pump, fuel injectors and blow motors. Scheduled maintenance can help keep a vehicle running in tip top shape and also repair costs.

Blower motors are necessary for distributing the hot and cold air from a vehicles interior temperature control unit. If the unit goes bad or the fan that is attached to it breaks then the unit will stop working properly and can cause all sorts of trouble. In some cases the replacement piece can only be purchased from a manufacturer.

The water pump acts as a go between for the radiator and the motor. Using a vacuum system the pump brings in cold water from the radiator and then distributes it to the engine. In case the radiator springs a leak or the pump starts to leak and seizes up. The engine will no longer receive water and can cause it to overheat.

Spark plugs and wire kits are another important part of a vehicles engine design. The wires are connected to what is called a coil. This coil generates a spark when the ignition is engaged thus sending the spark through the wires and into the plugs themselves. When the spark reaches the plug the gas in the plug area ignites and enables the engine to start. Maintaining plugs, wires and coils will prevent the motor from not starting properly or at all.

Fuel injectors are the units that replaced the old fashioned carburetors that were used in the past. These units are designed to take the fuel from the gas tank and essentially distribute fuel in a regulated manner allowing the engine to start and run. If an injector becomes faulty the tell tale sign is the motor missing a beat when driving or idling. Missing a beat means that if the motor begins to stutter at any point there usually is something wrong with the fuel reception.

The vehicles of today have multiple computers installed in them that monitor and control everything from emissions to fuel distribution and in some cases ignitions. Because the computers are specially designed for individual vehicle types they are mainly purchasable from a manufacturer. Some aftermarket options are available.
