A custom paint job is one of the very best ways to make sure a car looks brand new. This process does not have to cost hundreds of dollars.| Painting the car yourself is always an option. Don’t assume the process is time consuming or complex. Even if you are a novice, you can deliver a tremendous paint job to the car.

Washing the car thoroughly is needed prior to painting it. Painting on top of dirt and dust would be truly self-defeating. A dirty exterior can ruin the quality of the paint job. Don’t overlook the step of thoroughly washing the vehicle prior to painting it. If there are rough spots on the car, use sandpaper to even them out. Body putty should be used to eliminate pitted, scratched, or blemished spots.

Once the car has been completely washed, allow it to dry before starting the painting process. Use masking tape to cover up the spots on the car you do not want to be painted and are hoping to detail later. If you accidentally paint an area you intend to detail, you will only make detailing a lot harder. So, don’t make this common beginner mistake.

Before you commence painting the car, it will need to be primed. Apply a capacious amount of primer to the vehicle. Buy a high quality grade of primer because the prime coat since you will need to eliminate all appearance of the original paint job. Prime the totality of the car that will be painted. Applying a new coat is the next step in business once the base coat has dried. Such a coat would be the final paint coat and it needs to dry for a couple of hours. Once this coat of paint has dried, you need to add a few clear coats. Three coats should be sufficient. Once you have applied a single clear coat, let it dry for 30 minutes and add another. The process is to be repeated three times.
